Linda Kosut sings "The Johnny Green Songbook" with The Mike Greensill Trio

BODY AND SOUL, composed by Johnny Green in 1930, is #1 on Jazz Standards. Johnny who? That's the point. 83 yrs later, we are pleased to present THE MUSIC OF JOHNNY GREEN.

Born in 1908, John W. Green became an internationally known composerby the time he was 25. He wore many hats in his career: arranger, orchestrator, Chair of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. He was nominated for musical score for 14 Academy Awards and winner of 5. He was music director at MGM. Yet, Mr. Green's full body of work remains underexposed and relatively unknown.

Linda Kosut, with The MIke Greensill Trio, will present in workshop, 22 of Mr. Green's tunes, including many of the obscure tunes which he composed with lyricists such as Edward Heyman, Johnny Mercer, E.Y. ("Yip") Harburg, Sammy Kahn and others - songs that we believe are gems to add to the Great American Songbook.
