2013 FREE Hidden Harbor Tour on NY Waterway - 60-Minute Round Trip from Governors Island
This is a round-trip tour from Yankee Pier on Governors Island.
Explore the New York Harbor you have never seen before and can only see by boat. On this tour, narrated by the Working Harbor Committee, you will be witness to the part of our harbor that holds and fosters the economic engines that drive more than a quarter of our regional economy.
The New York/New Jersey Port has the highest container traffic on the East Coast. In 2008, the dollar value of all cargo that moved through the port exceeded $190 billion, a new record!
The tour will depart Governors Island on NY Waterway and go south in Buttermilk Channel between Brooklyn and Governors Island, passing Atlantic Basin and the new cruise ship terminal, the New York home port of Queen Mary 2. From there we visit other historic harbor destinations including Erie Basin, Upper New York Harbor, the entrance to the Kill Van Kull, the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Navy Yard, and Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Plan to arrive at Governors Island at least 45 minutes before your tour. You will pick up tickets at the ticketing table, located by Yankee Pier. Present your ID or a print out of your reservation confirmation to receive your tickets.
Please arrive at the ticketing table at least 30 minutes before the tour to pick up your tickets.
Tickets not claimed 15 minutes before the tour may be given to those in the standby line.
