Embracing Our Veterans:
Responding to the Unique Needs of Women Who Serve
The Interfaith Center at the Presidio will host a conference on Ministry to Women Who Went to War, on Thursday, July 18th, from 8:30am to 4:30pm at Christ Episcopal Church, 1700 Santa Clara Avenue, in Alameda. This one-day meeting focuses on how congregations and spiritual communities can help military women and families bridge the gap between the war experience and civilian life--using their gifts and meeting their needs. Presentations describe the culture of the military as women find it, the special challenges faced by women veterans, resources for reintegration, how rituals heal and how congregations can minister to women veterans. Small group discussion and networking are featured in the program.
Presenters include Rev. Charlotte Bear and Rev. Lyn Juckniess, women chaplains to the military who are themselves veterans, Rev. Herbert Anderson, Research Professor in Practical Theology at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, and Kathy Dieden, Twin Towers United Methodist Church. The registration fee of $20 includes continental breakfast and lunch. The fee is waived for veterans of all eras.
You can email Fred Fielding, ICP Interim Board President at email@example.com if you have any questions.
