Nearly a year after a botched job, a hitman takes a new assignment with the promise of a big payoff for three killings. Kill List is an expertly executed slow-burn crime thriller that thrives on tension before morphing into visceral horror.

A mind-blowing genre concoction. A brilliant blend of family drama, hitman action-thriller and terrifying psychological horror film, Kill List tells the story of an ex-soldier turned contract killer who is plunged into the heart of human darkness. Eight months after a disastrous hit job in Kiev left him physically and mentally scarred, Jay is pressured by his partner Gal, into taking a new assignment. As they descend into the bizarre, disturbing world of the contract, Jay's world begins to unravel until fear and paranoia sending him reeling towards a horrifying point of no return.

Total Film review (5/5) "a mystery movie, a road movie and a grotesque riff on Arthurian legendinfluenced as much by John Cassavetes, Alan Clarke and Ken Loach as Witchfinder General, The Wicker Man and The Blood On Satan's Claw" before concluding that "[a]uthentic dialogue, pitch-perfect performances and seductively scuzzy images comprise a film funny and bleak, tender and cruel, serious and 'out-there'. British horror has rarely hit these heights since the '70s."

Directed by: Ben Wheatley

Starring: Neil Maskell, MyAnna Buring, Harry Simpson
