The morning after a wild party, a film student awakens in the arms of a mysterious actress. Unsure of where they are, the two are surprised to find a video camera at the end of the bed aimed at them. The lovers decide to watch the tape, suspicious of one another. Their apprehension turns to terror as they discover that the tape shows them gleefully committing a savage murder in the room they are in. But there are no victims, no blood. The aspiring director doesn't have time to investigate; he must pitch a film to his class that morning. Arriving late, he describes to the class his horrifying experience from the night before, playing it as fiction. By the time the class enthusiastically votes to produce his 'pitch,' it is too late for him to back out. So now, the director must film the waking nightmares that he discovers nearly every morning on videotape, and spend his nights searching for whom is filming him.
