Treatment Planning the Worn Dentition
Friday, September 20, 2013
8:30 a.m.  4:30 p.m.
Newton Marriott Hotel 2345 Commonwealth Ave. Newton
7 CEU's
The aging baby boomer population presents itself with many unique challenges. Unlike their parents, they expect to keep their teeth in health and function for their entire life. They also will be living longer in a world with increased stresses, making occlusal wear/occlusal disease one of the greatest threats to their dentition. These same groups of people are also spending billions of dollars to stay healthy and look their very best. Being able to design comprehensive treatment plans that will address occlusal, aesthetic, biologic along with the correct material selection will be essential to the successful restorative practice.

Dr. John Cranham presents his unique seminar to learn from actual cases how and why to develop a treatment plan that will meet and exceed the expectations of the patient and the dental team. You will work through actual cases restored by Dr. Cranham, to learn a predictable approach to complex treatment planning.

In this program you will learn:
A step-by-step programmed approach to optimum treatment  planning.
What essential data you will need to gather to comprehensively diagnosis and plan a complex wear case.
How and when to safely open the vertical dimension of occlusion.
When and what kind of occlusal splint may be needed prior to and after treating the patient.
How to design a stable, minimal stress occlusion.
Whey photography plays an important role in case analysis.
How to evaluate the TM Joints to be sure they are healthy prior to restoration.
How to work with specialists in extremely complex cases when interdisciplinary treatment is required. How to choose the correct restorative material to solve functional and aesthetic problems.

Dr. Cranham received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (Cum Laude) from the Medical College of Virginia. He is on the faculty of VCU School of Dentistry, the Ross Nash Seminars and an active dental educator since the mid 1990's. In 1990 Dr. Cranham was the finalist in the Academy of Dental Ceramics Young Speakers Contest and most recently was awarded the Peter E. Dawson Faculty Award. He has become one of the most sought after speakers in the profession. Dr. Cranham is the founder of Cranham Dental Seminars, which in 2008 merged with The Dawson Academy. Today he is a partner and its acting Clinical Director. Dr. Cranham maintains a general dental practice in Chesapeake, Virginia focused on cosmetic, implant and TMJ-occlusal related services.
