The master is back.
Six years after the smash hit world premiere Stories by Tobias Wolff broke all records for Word for Word, the company that turns great literature into great theatre pairs back up with the short story master for More Stories by Tobias Wolff.
Of Word for Word, Tobias Wolff says: I wish that Word for Word would do all my stories. Their brilliant inventiveness in performance, choreography, and staging has created a new art form, and a deeply affecting experience. I honestly believe that you could not find a more imaginative, energetic, and emotionally well-tuned ensemble.
Sanity, Down to Bone, and Firelight (Best American Short Stories) comprise the evening, with Wolffs typical exploration of moral ambiguity and the small, life-altering shifts that he investigates with such grace and compassion.
From the desperate hilarity of teenage Aprils attempt to create stability in her disintegrating family, to the implausible possibility of a sultry interlude while keeping a parental deathwatch, to a young boys jaunty, buoyant search with his single mother for refuge, Sanity Down to Bone, and Firelight prove once again the mastery of Tobias Wolffs life-affirming storytelling.
