MAPS & ATLASES and EVEREST with MUTTS
Two headlining tours collide when Maps & Atlases and Everest play together for one night only in Milwaukee.

Formed in 2005, Maps & Atlases released numerous EP's before 2010s highly successful debut LP 'Perch Patchwork,' which was followed up by last year's 'Beware and Be Grateful.' Their music appeals to fans of all different kinds of music, as their tour history hints at: they've traveled the country with Ra Ra Riot and Minus the Bear, as well as acts like Circa Survive and The Fall of Troy. The diversity of their backgrounds and influences brings a little bit of everything to their music: it's melodic like pop, active like experimental rock, easy to connect to like alt-rock, and avant-garde and occasionally surprising like indie rock. Maps & Atlases is a mutt, but one made up of the best parts of the purebreds.

Everest pulls in its own diverse range of backgrounds and influences. Previously to creating Everest in 2007, vocalist and guitarist Russell Pollard played drums in seminal lo-fi indie band Sebadoh and The Folk Implosion - both bands that also counted Dinosaur Jr. founding member Lou Barlow among their lineups. But as the band's bio makes clear, the material on their third album 'Ownerless' doesn't just fit nicely into some cookie-cutter genre: "Whether it be the slack-jaw stoner riffing of opening track "Rapture", the ghostly, late-night harmonics of "Letter," or the krautrock shuffle of "Hungry Ghost," Ownerless sounds like a band functioning like an eight-armed groove machinea vibe cultivated by the bands newfound sense of not giving a fuck (in the best way possible)." Bands and fans alike have taken notice of their quality material; they've toured with heavy-hitters like Neil Young, Death Cab, Wilco, and My Morning Jacket, and their song "Games" has received heavy rotation from stations like Radio Milwaukee.

It only makes sense, then, for a band called Mutts to lead in for these musical mutts. The Chicago trio, featuring two former members of Company of Thieves, bring in influences from Nirvana to vaudeville. Their two most recent LP's, 'Separation Anxiety' and 'Object Permanence,' showed that these dogs knew way more than one trick - while both contain highly reflective songs that could be abrasive one second and mellow the next, 'Object Permanence' is completely unplugged, while 'Separation Anxiety' proves you don't need guitars to blow the roof off a place if you have Mike Maimone on keys.

This is definitely not a show to miss. Get your tickets now before they're all gone!
