REAP Nat'l Conference Nikki Giovanni/Jacqueline Hairston
The public is invited to attend the closing Saturday evening program of the REAP National Conference on the Spirituals which begins at 7:30 p.m. and will include a keynote address, "Every Time I Feel the Spirit," by NIKKI GIOVANNI, the world-renowned poet, writer, commentator, activist and educator.
In addition, the Spirituals Project Choir will present the world premiere of a new choral work by Jacqueline Hairston, commissioned expressly for the conference,"The Multi-Layered Legacy of Madame E. Azalea Hackley" along with a selection of other spirituals under Artistic Music Director Bennie Williams, Associate Choir Director LaDamion Massey and Assistant Choir Director Michael Reilly.
