Ugetsu Project at the Sound Room
June 16 will mark the 50th anniversary of the performance by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers at Birdland that was immortalized as the album Ugetsu, featuring Freddie Hubbard, Wayne Shorter and Cedar Walton. Adam Shulman and Anton Schwartz have transcribed the arrangements from the album and assembled a fantastic sextet to perform the musicmusic that is bold, richly textured, and, above all, swinging.
Mike Olmos trumpet  Anton Schwartz tenor sax
John Gove trombone  Adam Shulman piano
Mike Bordelon bass  Greg Wyser-Pratte drums
