As part of the Breadbasket: Seed to Spoon exhibit, the Rock County Historical Society is offering a tour of Rock County Farms.
Rock County's black prairie soil has been tended to by farm families for many generations. Some of the farms can trace their beginnings back to before the civil war. Innovation, determination and diversification has enabled these farmers to produce food for the local tables as well as feed the world.
Join us on rare occasion when these farmers open up their businesses to share behind-the-scene farm operations.
Visitors will be taken via bus to local farmers to learn first-hand from the farmer about the food growing process. The tour will encompass a variety of farms from small to large-scale operations. In addition, the tour plans to incorporate stops at grain storage facilities and food preservation companies.
