Description
Presented by the Salmon Creek Watershed Council, Peter Donaldson's SALMONPEOPLE is sly, funny and sophisticated theater at its best - Garrison Keillor meets Johnny Appleseed in Robin Williams kitchen. SALMONPEOPLE is one man's hilarious and poignant journey to figure out how the real world works. Is it about salmon? Is it about people? Or something bigger than both? SALMONPEOPLE is an utterly original work of theater, a one-man show with everybody in it, a tour de force of lyric cartography, ribald characters, scientific soliloquy, and sweeping history accompanied by the haunting melodies of electronic cellist Jami Sieber and sound environments by Lance Limbocker. With good humor, good science and audacious storytelling, Peter Donaldson's SALMONPEOPLE covers one huge landscape and everybody's bottom line. Bring your teacher, bring your preacher, your teenager, grandpa and grandma. Peter Donaldson is our very own Bioregional Bard. Since 2005, the Salmonpeople Tour has reached 4,435 audience members through 31 performances in 19 towns. Standing ovations every time.

WHAT AUDIENCES ARE SAYING ABOUT SALMONPEOPLE!

"I was positively stunned by Peter's performance of Salmonpeople."  - Dave Williams, CEO, ShoreBank Pacific

"Performance after performance Peter walked onstage, sucked everyone in, and didn't let them go until after the standing ovation."  - Scot Whitney, Artistic Director, Harlequin Productions

"This masterfully-woven, thoroughly engaging play refuses to indulge in the blame game that too often divides and polarizes our communities. No small feat."  - Mark Trenholm, Executive Director,Tillamook Estuaries Partnership

"Peter's beguiling approach helps people make connections He makes those connections with humor, insight, and good storytelling. Only when he is done, and people head out to their every-day lives do they realize that he has reached them viscerally and fundamentally. Thats good theater."  - Billy Frank, Jr., Chairman, Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission

"I was riveted, wanting to see where the story was heading. The story unfolds in layers like an onion skin, each layer revealing deeper and deeper meaning. Never preachy, an utterly original and intelligently crafted work of art. It was a very moving experience." - Joanne Day, Fisheries & Oceans Canada

"Brilliant performance! Peter connects with an audience in a most profound and unique way - one that fills each with the feeling that he is talking directly and perhaps, only, to him or her." - Toni Sar'h Petrinovich, Whidbey Island

"Marvelous. I was totally drawn in, intrigued, and curious, and touched, and inspired, and entertained, and delighted and very grateful."  - Jean Eisele, Professor of Education, University of Washington
