FREE Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement class
The Feldenkrais Method is a system of movement re-eductation. It helps you learn to identify your unconscious movement habits, and helps you discover new movement options so you're not stuck in the same "rut." Awareness Through Movement lessons are designed to help you discover the "blind spots" in your movement repertoire, and to gently explore other options for movement, so you have more choices about how you move.
It is similar to yoga in that it encourages people to move mindfully. However, it is structured quite differently than yoga, because it doesn't have any prescribed postures or exercises. Instead, the emphasis is on the quality of the movement itself, and on the variety of potential movement options. In that way, it epitomizes the "it's the journey, not the destination that matters" approach.
The Feldenkrais Method is highly beneficial in the following ways:
1) It can help you discover and overcome the habits that are causing (or at least exacerbating) your injuries
2) Helps you learn to use your body more optimally, which reduces pain, tension & fatigue
3) For athletes and other active people, Feldenkrais helps you discover subtle new ways of moving, helping you overcome a "plateau" and move gently up to the next level
