Lunch & Learn: Education, Equality and Our Environment
Join Critical Exposure, Healthy Schools Campaign, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Urban Gateways for a close look at the state of our school facilities and the ways that these facilities shape children's education.

Well examine the consequences of disparities in school funding through the eyes of students and look at ways that responsible preservation of school buildings supports student learning, urban vitality and environmental stewardship.

Royce Yeater of the National Trust for Historic Preservation will discuss current issues in school preservation and the important benefits of maintaining school buildings to promote public health, community investment and educational excellence. The National Trust has developed guidelines for architects and school officials, emphasizing the importance of schools as community anchors and institutions that should reflect a respect for education and our environment.

Adam Levner of Critical Exposure will discuss his organizations uniquely powerful approach to documenting school conditions and advocating for educational equality. Critical Exposure empowers young people to develop skills as documentary photographers, sharing their perspectives and raising their voices for the right of all students to learn in schools that inspire learning rather than buildings that detract from education and in many cases endanger student health.

Don't miss this unique discussion of the ways that preserving schools can build a brighter future for our students and our communities.

This event includes lunch and opportunities for networking.
