Harmony: a Colorado chorale presents Hers and Herstory
"We need to tell the stories of our lives," says Artistic Director William Loper, describing Harmony's upcoming production "Hers and Herstory". Conceived by Loper, the concert is a "fun, witty trip through time, exploring how LGBT musicians have reflected on their places in his or herstory". Beginning with ancient Greece, the chorus shares the myth from Plato's Symposium, singing "Origin of Love" from "Hedwig and the Angry Inch". You will also hear music of Rufus Wainwright, Cole Porter, Noel Coward, Cris Williamson, the Indigo Girls, and Lady Gaga, to name a few. The title for the concert is a reminder of how patriarchal our society can be. "Why not play with the words a little?" said Loper. Actually the entire concert will be somewhat playful, as we discover who we are even more. Special Guest Artist Jenna Lindbo. "Jenna is one of those rare performers who steals your heart from the first note. She turns everyday details in to magical stories... With charming songs, a gorgeous voice, and joy bursting from her soul, Jenna is destined to create and share music with an ever-widening audience." - Catie Curtis
