The Matchmaker
The Matchmaker by Thornton Wilder: An enduring farce, circa 1880, on which the hit musical Hello Dolly! was based. An irascible, wealthy store owner in Yonkers, New York, employs a matchmaker to find him a wife. The shrewd businessman becomes putty in the hands of Dolly Levi who pretends to make a match for him but, in reality, is making it for herself - all while leading a rather ordinary group of people on the adventures of a lifetime. Its all in the name of love!
