For one year we have worked tirelessly to devise, choreograph, and design this production of Sarah Kane's infamous play, 4.48 Psychosis. During this compelling process we engaged in a deep theatrical investigation of fantasy, violence, abandonment, the thin line between life and death, and the delicate balance between the carnal and the civilized. Now re-envisioned, this story stands as a testament to the artistic process of a playwright who, haunted by the distorted memories of her past, writes the lives of a Physician and Patient with whom she becomes obsessed. Twenty audience members per performance will move through this immersive and nightmarish landscape that attempts to blur the boundaries between theatre/performance- spectator/participant.
WHO ARE WE? Over a year ago, eighteen women were drawn together by the mysterious laws of attraction to a small classroom on a well-known arts school campus to work on The Skriker by Caryl Churchill. Little did we all know this project would be the string that sutured us into one ambitious monster. Today, Wirehead Collective is a collaborative-coalition made up of eleven women (and a few choice men!) dedicated to discovering the pulse of an emerging generation through theatre and performance art that is blatantly aggressive, provocative and impossible to ignore or avoid. 4.48 Psychosis declares our first official company production!
