Art of Burlesque Clinic
Bump and shimmy your burlesque acts to the next level during this intensive workshop with Sinner Saint Burlesque, Seattle's longest continually running weekly burlesque show! Learn how to hone your craft with this advanced workshop. We will cover a variety of topics that including:
-Costuming: from seed to the stage: Learn how to create your own process with the art of costuming. Everything from finding inspiration to vision board to removal choices to putting it on stage!
-Get Inspired: Teasing Apart a Concept: Where do our best acts come from? Learn new tools and approaches for drawing unique act concepts from images, ideas, and characters that inspire YOU! Dive deeper into using music, story, and costume to achieve your artistic intentions.
-Signature Presence: Leading and Self-Determination: What is the message you have for the world and how are you aligning with it? In this workshop, you will reflect on your present state and future goals, and explore how you are maximizing the impact you desire to create personally and professionally through your art.
-Make a Choice: Elements to Consider for Acts with Polish: This participatory lecture examines every element of a cabaret act that we can, and should, make informed choices about to truly make our performance art more impressive and effectual. This class will expand the participant's arsenal of tools for fully engaging their audience.
Participants are invited to bring your their lunch and join the members of Sinner Saint Burlesque for an informal Q & A during the lunch break. Feel free to pick our brains! While this intensive workshop is curated with already performing burlesque artists in mind, performers of any genre or style of cirque, theatre, dance or other performance art are sure to get something out of it. People who have never performed burlesque before are welcome to attend and will get a rich view of what goes into the creative process of a professional burlesque performer far beyond fishnets and pasties. Sinner Saint Burlesque will also be offering a more beginning focused course in Anchorage, Sunday, May 19.
