Description
Deeply rooted in the music of 20s & 30s blues pioneers Eric Nodens percussive guitar work, timeless songwriting and well-traveled blues vocals have earned the respect of audiences, critics, and musicians worldwide. Eric is a one man band, a musician, songwriter, actor, and educator who continues to re-invent traditional blues and roots music for todays audiences.

Noden started playing electric guitar at age 8 but quickly gravitated toward the finger picking approach of acoustic blues masters Reverend Gary Davis, Mississippi John Hurt and Tommy Johnson. Originally from Ohio, Noden relocated to Chicago in 1994 where he quickly became a staple on the blues scene with his hard-driving solo performances. In Chicago Eric has performed with and interviewed many blues legends including Billy Boy Arnold, Honeyboy Edwards, and Erwin Helfer. Noden has performed at many major music venues including The Chicago Blues Festival, Eslov Blues Festival (Sweden), Mississippi Valley Blues Festival, Harmonicales Festival (France) and Buddy Guys Legends.

Recently Eric starred in a new play by Kevin Ramsey entitled Grafton City Blues. The play tells the story of the Paramount Records label which was based out of Grafton, Wisconsin and which recorded some of Americas most important blues artists in the 1920s. Eric not only performed in the production, but arranged and directed music for the play--- music that included songs by Son House, Charley Patton, Blind Blake, Ma Rainey, and Papa Charlie Jackson. Grafton City Blues debuted at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater in January, 2008.

Eric is also known as a blues educator and researcher. From lecture demonstrations at the University of Wisconsin to blues in the schools programs for the Chicago Blues Festival, his educational programs have entertained and informed thousands of students. In addition, Eric also teaches blues guitar workshops at the Old Town School of Folk Music.

Erics latest recording The Original Eric Noden (2008) features 13 new songs in the acoustic blues genre. Eric wrote, produced, and arranged all the music on this fourth release for the Diving Duck Records label. The recording embodies his many influences--- blues, jazz, swing, and R&B from the 1920s to the 1950s. Special guests on the CD include harmonica master Joe Filisko as well as Memphis based guitar picker Andy Cohen and swing bassist Jimmy Sutton.
