The Magnolia Chorale presents: Spring is Here!|
Sat May 4th 7:30pm
Sun May 5th 2:00pm
What better way to celebrate the spring than with songs of birds and roses? This May we're presenting "Spring Is Here!" featuring songs inspired by the beauty of nature this time of the year. Our songs include a 16th-century madrigal by Thomas Morley, René Clausen's exquisite "Oh My Luve's Like A Red, Red Rose" with violin and cello accompaniment, and the ever-popular Morten Lauridsen's Chansons des Roses. We will also present some fun multi-cultural selections: Chinese folksong "Mo Li Hua" (Jasmine Flower), Japanese folksong "Sakura" (Cherry Blossoms), and Israeli folksong "Erev Shel Shoshanim" (Evening of Roses). To spice up the concert and bring in some warm weather, we will conclude the evening with songs from South Pacific, the cherished musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein. We hope you'll join us in celebrating the beauty of spring with this charming and diverse program.
There is a reception with refreshments during intermission on Saturday evening and immediately after the concert Sunday afternoon.
About the Chorale
The Magnolia Chorale is a community-based non-profit organization that provides opportunities for singers of intermediate-to-advanced skill to participate in performance of a wide variety of sacred and secular choral music. The chorale shares its joy in music for the delight of our audiences.
The ensemble is an approximately 50 voice choir under the direction of Dr. Julia Tai. We rehearse Sunday evenings and perform concerts the first weekends of December and May. Members also have opportunities to perform at a variety of community outreach venues during the year.
