THURSDAY, MAY 30, 7 PM ET|
Norman Fischer is a poet and Zen Buddhist priest. He has taught and served as the Co-abbot at the San Francisco Zen Center, the oldest and largest of the new Buddhist organizations in the West from 1995-2000. He is the founder and spiritual director of the Everyday Zen
Foundation, an organization dedicated to adapting Zen Buddhist teachings to Western culture.
Fischer has also stayed in touch with his Jewish heritage, offering instruction and mediation at Beth Sholom synagogue in San Francisco. A person of unusually wide-ranging interests, his Zen teaching is known for its eclecticism, openness, warmth, and common sense, and for his willingness to let go of everything.
Norman Fischer will speak and read from this new book,
"Training in Compassion: Zen Teachings on the Practice of Lojong".
This event is sponsored by the Minnesota Zen Center (www.mnzencenter.org).
