Legendary Congolese dancer and choreographer Vivien Bassouamina and Pisa Za Congo Dance Company present "Maboi-idi," and evening of storytelling through dance, drum, and theater. Maboi-idi means "The story is happening now." Masterfully fusing theatre, Traditional Congolese Dance, Traditional Drumming, as well as Tradi-Modern dance, |
Maboi-idi tells the stories of Congo Brazzaville's traditional ways, and their interplay with changing times, revolution, and the FIRE of the new generation.
Please join us for this artfully crafted production, with a talented line up of artists!
This is a very special event, as it is Vivien Bassouamina's last production before a return visit back to his home in Congo Brazaville, for the first time since coming to the United States 5 years ago. Proceeds from the show will aid and assist two very special projects in Congo.
1-baby and toddler clothes for the mothers delivering in the hospitals who can't afford to clothe their newborns.
2- Gifts of chairs and benches for classrooms and help create an environment conducive to learning for Congo's children.
PLEASE BRING CLOTHES TO DONATE FOR AGES 0-4, as well as any other contribution you can offer. These projects will be documented and filmed so you can see the fruits of the gifts upon Vivien's return to the USA.
