Wasting the Night - Song Recital
The final concert of the Casement Fund Song Series, will feature a celebration of poetry and music in North American Art Song. 'Something about Autumn', a song cycle collaboration between Guggenheim Fellow, composer Tom Cipullo and Michigan Poet Robert Cole will have it's NYC premier along with songs by Scott Wheeler, Ned Rorem, John Musto, Andrew Staniland and Bruce Sled interspersed with readings by Poet Lloyd Schwartz.

Baritone Tyler Duncan, has been a soloist with the NYPhil, The Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the American Symphony Orchestra, the Montreal Symphony, as well as the Spoleto Festival. He has given Recitals throughout Europe and North America including his Carnegie Hall Debut. Soprano Martha Guth, has performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Calgary Philharmonic, the New Mexico Symphony and worked with conductors John Nelson, Robert Spano, Seiji Ozawa and Helmut Rilling. Recitals include frequently collaborations with Pianist Graham Johnson and a NYC recital with Malcolm Martineau next season. Both singers are long time partners to Pianist Erika Switzer, who has played recitals at Kennedy Center ,New York's Frick Collection, Alice Tully Hall, and Carnegie Hall (Weill Hall). She is on faculty at Bard College and the Bard Conservatory of Music. Poet Lloyd Schwartz is the classical music critic for NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross, and the Classical music editor for the Boston Pheonix. In 1994 he won the Pulitzer Prize for criticism. He is the author of three volumes of poems: These People, Goodnight, Gracie and Cairo Traffic. He's the editor of the centennial edition of Elizabeth Bishop's Prose,
About the Old Stone House:
The Old Stone House (OSH) is a Robert Moses-era reconstruction of the Vechte-Cortelyou House, a 1699 Dutch farmhouse that was the site of the largest battle of the Revolutionary War the Battle of Brooklyn on August 27, 1776. In the late 1800's, it became the home field for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Located in Washington Park in Park Slope, Brooklyn, OSH is part of the Historic House Trust of New York City and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
