'First Thursdays' at The Independent - Dinner Series presents "Big Sur"
The Indy is alive & 'First Thursdays' continue May 2 at The Independent with a 5-6pm 'Happy Hour Tasting + Mini Market' followed by our Dinner seating at 6pm. ''Big Sur" inspires the evening- combining a savory seasonal meal featuring The Pig Wizard + The Big Sur Bakery + others while Henry Miller Library entertains with live music from "Songs Hot Box Harry Taught Us" + then movie clips over a sensational dessert!

Only 125 Dinner Tickets are available + will sell out. This is a fundraising event for Henry Miller Library so please be generous when you choose to donate $10, $20 or $50 above the base $25 ticket for adult entry.  Donations will be gratefully accepted at the event as well.  Kids tickets are $10. This meal focuses on the culinary passions of The Pig Wizard and vegetarians may be happier coming another month.

Imagine the expansive white interior of the Independent Art Gallery alive with a social seating of folks all enjoying a sequence of appetizers, main dish & desserts provided by the most progressive food artisans from Big Sur.  Local Big Sur artist Jill Gisler will adorn the gallery with her huge + stunning Natural Mystic Big Sur'realistic nature paintings  + a series of posters illustrates the future of The Independent Marketplace-  come see the plans!

The DINNER will be served family style on platters to be shared + devoured by friends new and old, so bring a social spirit! Look forward to meeting + eating next to contributing food artisans like The Pig Wizard, The Big Sur Bakery, The Hermitage Big Sur, Esalen Farm, Hill of the Hawk family, Local Catch Monterey Bay & Happy Girl Kitchen!

BEER from 'Post No Bills' ample selection is available for purchase. Come experience for yourself why Monterey Weekly voted Post No Bills 'Best Selection of Beers' in the county!

Micro regional + import WINES will be poured by the glass by Sierra Mar Sommeliers Sarah Kabat + Michael Marcy.  Their eclectic + geeky collection will astound you, promise.

Pop Culture will be making their 1st debut in Monterey County with their organic artisan SODA!  They will be sampling + selling their carefully sweetened sparkling drinks (non alcoholic).

Save room for DESSERT by a stunning threesome!  served before Henry Miller Library starts the Movies!
1)  The Ladies of Planet Love Funk will debut their 'Rusks' alongside their infamous Fresh Chai Shots to get you inspired for the Movies!
2)  The fellas of Hermitage Big Sur.  Taste their legendary Fruit Cake!
3)  'The Sweet Mix' gals are mixing up a legendary batch of 'Bourbon Caramel Bacon PopCorn'! Hot Damn!

Families are encouraged to bring their CHILDREN confident in the casual atmosphere and 'Kids Corner' activities provided by Esalen's Gazebo Park School + Monterey Museum of Art ($10 ticket for 12yrs + under).

A Happy Hour Tasting + Mini Market starts at 5pm so dinner ticket holders can come enjoy a leisurely seating while meeting featured food artisans & tasting their creations- some of the best in the region! Host Maddox Haberdasher will do his dandy darn-dest to make you feel welcome.  Bring some cash + take some home (ATM onsite).
