DEAD LEAF ECHO
By incorporating elements of ambient, baroque, dream-pop, shoegaze, new wave, and goth, and crafting every aspect of their sound and vision, they remain one of the few left willing to work on high-art as concept. Chiming guitars in twin stereo reverbs with shimmering vocals and silky basslines DLE runs the gamut of what is now possible within the contemporary underground by running at the forefront of the indie NYC music scene.
Experimental dreampop artist, Shana Falana is performing her "In the Light EP", produced by Kevin McMahon (TitusAndronicus, Swans) and mixed by Gareth Jones (Grizzly Bear, Interpol), In the Light has critics responding to it's effortless lucidity, calling it "positive music of wonderment and discovery" (DELI Magazine). Combining live-looping of reverb-drenched vocals and guitar with drums, pre-recorded "backing tracks", and stunning visual projections, Shana's live experience has often been described as transcendental. Praised as "the most entrancing modern psychedelic pop now being made" by Chronogram magazine (NY).
"A self-proclaimed "psych/shoegaze-ish trio," I was immediately and pleasantry surprised by the restraint shown by the band in their first single. Not content to simply make noise for noise sake, the band seems to have whipped the most serene elements of My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins and early Pink Floyd into a dreamy, but still crunchy froth."
