Hildegard: Ordo Virtutum
Alameda Presbyterian Alameda, CA
San Francisco Renaissance Voices (Todd Jolly, Music Director) joins with Bansuri master Deepak Ram and Celtic harper Diana Rowan to present Hildegard's definitive musical work "Ordo Virtutum." Hildegard von Bingen, a Medieval mystic German nun was remarkable by any standard; a physician, author, counselor to kings and popes and the composer of this, what many consider to be the first Opera, as well as many other ethereal compositions. This fusion performance combines Hildegard's plain chant with the traditional music of India for a unique performance of this rarely performed work.
