Beethoven Mass in C, Haydn Salve Regina, Mozart Veni Sancte Spiritus
This concert marks the Chorus's first collaboration with the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston, one of only four cooperative orchestras in the country and an ensemble that has played a distinguished role in the history of the arts in Boston.
Ludwig van Beethoven's majestic and gentle Mass in C is an intimate testament to his personal faith and a work that he claimed was "especially close to my heart." The concert will also feature Joseph Haydn's rarely heard Salve Regina in E, a lyrical and spirited work for soprano, chorus, and strings. This concert marks the Chorus's first collaboration with the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston, one of only four cooperative orchestras in the country and an ensemble that has played a distinguished role in the history of the arts in Boston.
Teresa Wakim, soprano; Julia Cavallaro, mezzo-soprano; Marcio de Oliveira, tenor; and David McFerrin, baritone will be the soloists for this performance. In May 2012 Ms. Wakim joined the Concord Chorus as the soprano soloist for Brahms's magnificent Ein deutsches Requiem.
