At The American Theatre of Actors, 314 west 54th street, 2nd floor, The Beckmann.
Directed by Richard Hymes-Esposito
The Seagull's first performance in St. Petersburg, 1896, was a disaster, booed by the audience. Chekhov swore he would never write another play. But in 1898, Konstantin Stanislavski directed a second production for the new Moscow Art Theatre. At the final curtain, the applause, which came after a prolonged silence, burst from the audience like a dam breaking. And the modern theater was born.
