Summer Session Classes
Grades (Rising) K-2 Creative Dramatics 1 hr
This class will allow the students to explore their creativity using their own voice and unique personalities. We will focus on setting up new environments encouraging students to feel comfortable when displaying their theatrics to the class. We will explore acting games and exercises and how to feel comfortable in front of a group of people. We will work with skits and scenes to achieve the ultimate goal of exploring theatre and moreover, to HAVE FUN.
Grades (Rising) 3-5 Intro to Acting 1 hr
This class will let the students dive more deeply into what it means to step into the shoes of a character. We will explore scenes that will be played with throughout the session, and different techniques will be taught. The importance of physicality will be stressed, and of course acting games and exercises will be played! Come discover some basic steps into what it means to be an actor.
Rising Graders 6-8 Middle Voice and Movement 1 hr
Voice and Movement will encourage students to enrich their instruments of voice and body through several exercises used in the theatre today. The importance of feeling comfortable in your own skin will be the primary focus. We will also focus on our own habitual actions and movement patterns. This class will explore new modes of using the voice and body, through fun and creative exploration with music and the sound of the human voice.
Rising 6-8 Graders Middle Improvisation! 1 hr
IMPROV! This class is a basis for the world of improv and the quick wit, timing, and focus it takes! The primary rules of improv will be taught and several improv games will be played and explored. In the world of improv, the more you practice, the more comfortable and better you get. We will practice, practice, practice!!
Rising 9-12 High Exploring Acting Essentials 2 hr
This class will focus on the tools that it takes to be a working actor. Scenes and monologues will be distributed and worked on throughout the session, with several techniques and useful hints explored through the sharing of the scenes. We will also focus on what it means to be an actor in this day and age, and what one needs to do to keep their instrument in check and healthy. Many games will still be played....the fun can never stop in this field!
