Think you have what it takes to be a DC Rollergirl? Attend our introductory skating clinic to learn the skills that you need to develop prior to our next rec league session, derby boot camp, and league tryouts. Our league trainers will be there to show you the ropes!
Rental skates will be available on site for a $3 fee. Attendees MUST have safety gear, to include:
Hard shell knee pads
Hard shell elbow pads
Hard shell wrist guards
Loaner pads may be available upon request. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO BRING YOUR OWN MOUTHGUARD TO THE CLINIC. WE HAVE A LIMITED SUPPLY OF HELMETS, SO WE WILL MAKE THEM AVAILABLE ON A FIRST-REQUESTED, FIRST-SERVED BASIS. While we normally do not recommend bike helmets for roller derby, they are acceptable for the purposes of this clinic. If you're interested in purchasing safety gear, check out your local roller derby skate shop (such as Department of Skate in DC - deptofskate.com) or the skate section of a good sporting goods store.
Participants must be 18 or over and have valid health insurance. YOU MUST PROVIDE PROOF OF BOTH UPON ARRIVAL AT THE SKATE CLINIC.
NOTE: Registration is non-refundable and on-skates participation is limited to the first 40 skaters who sign up. OBSERVER passes will be available once the on-skates clinic passes have sold out, which gives prospective skaters an opportunity to learn more about the sport, our tryout assessment, and how to perform the skills and drills necessary to be successful at tryouts. Observers are NOT allowed to participate in any on-skates drills during the clinic.
