Four Friends Four Guitars
In August of 2007, Alfredo Muro had the honor to participate at the V International Guitar Festival in Arequipa, Peru, which had eighteen very accomplished guitarists from around the world. Aside from exchanging ideas and concepts in relationship to technical issues with the guitar, performance and master classes, a great camaraderie and friendship unfolded. It confirms that music is a universal language particularly after listening to the Duo Dos Americas with a guitarist from the USA who does not speak Spanish and an Argentinian guitarist who does not speak English. Shortly after this incredible experience the idea was born to organize a concert here in Portland, to be called Four friends, four guitars, with four of the guitarists that were representing their countries at that event including Alfredo Muro.
We have invited Duo Dos Americas (Jim Bosse from the US, Founder and Director of the Southern Colorado Guitar Society and Alejandro Davila, classical guitarist from Argentina and Professor at the National University of San Juan, Argentina) and accomplished classical guitarist from Chile Alberto Cumplido (Director of Entrecuerdas, the International Guitar Festival in Chile) At the July concert we will have a combination of different styles and expressions, from solo works, duos, trios and quartet guitar performances.
