Leela: Robots to Rebels, Team Dyson, Armando Company
The evening opens with Leela's newest Performing Improv Ensemble, Robots to Rebels. Watch out! The robots have escaped and there's nothing artificial about their intelligence. These glossy rebels are shedding bolts and binary codes for blood and brain on their way to the stage. Expect a touch of structure and a whole lota who-knows. I've even heard they've been known to sing! Beep, boop, beep, Boom!
Robots to Rebels is:
Paul A. Cook
Directed by Daniel Smith
Next up is Team Dyson, joy filled improv duo and real-life married couple, Amber and Dave Dyson. They will delight you with their musical short form shenanigans! Amber and Dave are seasoned Bay Area improvisors, gracing the stages of BATS Improv, Unscripted Theater Company, and The Super Dupers.
***And for one night only! Jeffrey Weissman, local improv teacher and character actor best known for his role as George McFly in Back to the Future 2 and 3 guest stars as the monologist for Leela's Armando Company.
Developed by legendary improvisor and teacher, Armando Diaz (The Magnet, NYC), The Armando Diaz Theatrical Experience is a long-form improvised structure played at improv houses across the country. The premise is simple. Truth inspires great improv. A guest monologist improvises true stories, and a cast of some of the best improvisors of the SF Bay Area improvise scenes inspired by these truths. What follows is a patchwork of truthful artistic play at its finest.
April 13th's Armando cast includes:
Dave Collins (Harold Improv Theater (HIT), Robot Butler)
Jill Eickmann (Leela's Artistic Director, Shades of Grey)
Fontana Butterfield (Big City Improv)
Mariah Howard (Tilted Frame, True Medusa)
