VOX 3 Cabaret: Spring Awakening
Ah, puberty; the Spring season of life. Such a beautiful time of growth, nurturing and development. Birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and every pore, follicle and smelly thing on the body explodes simultaneously into an awkward clusterbomb of insecurity, vocal cracks, and "what the heck is HAPPENING TO ME?!?!?" It's happened to all of us; it's a rite of passage. And while we wouldn't re-live it if you paid us in platinum bars, we're more than happy to sing about it. Come celebrate nerds, jocks, the popular kids, the outcasts, and the fact that we're no longer defined by those titles unless we choose to be. Using music from Renaissance to Reggaeton and a hefty sampling of self-deprecation, VOX 3 invites you to remember the rough years, and celebrate our mutual discovery of daily showers, shaving, deodorant, and adulthood.
There is a $10 cover. The cabaret will be performed at 4pm and 7pm on Saturday, April 27 at Mary's Attic, 5400 N. Clark Street. The program will be repeated on Sunday, April 28 at 9:00pm at Nisei Lounge, 3439 N. Sheffield.
VOX 3 music director James Morehead leads the forces from the piano. Performers include David J. Baldwin, Matthew Bentsen, Kimberly Gunderson, Ashlee Hardgrave, Brian von Rueden, and Kathryn Wills.
