Bullying is an epidemic in the U.S., which we can no longer ignore. "Bullied to Silence", a new feature documentary, is proudly presented by Church of the Beatitudes UCC.

Arizona Filmmakers, Award-Winning Director/Editor Tami Pivnick and Award-Winning Producer/Writer Susan Broude combined efforts to create this must-see, powerful,
provocative, inspiring film that provides hope and a path for change to anyone who has ever witnessed or experienced being bullied or a bully. "Bullied to Silence" empowers you to Be The Change to Stop Verbal & Cyber-Bullying.

"Bullied to Silence" focuses exclusively on hateful and hurtful words and cyber bullying. It gives a voice to the bullied and allows dozens of youth from all walks of life, ethnicities, disabilities, sexual orientations, communities, and ages to tell their stories.

The movie includes recently released research from Harvard University and shows the actual MRI images of the physical change to a youth's brain when subjected to verbal abuse or bullying. Verbal bullying is where the majority of bullying begins. Pivnick and Broude decided to make such an important film because they felt it was time to bring awareness to the harm of verbal and cyber-bullying. The topic of bullying has been rampant in the media, and mostly due to the number of suicides that are attributed to youth being bullied.

In the same amount of time it took to make this film, 4350 youth under the age of 24 took their own life, some as a result of being bullied. Too often, parents, educators and many of us tell the bullied to "just get over it." We invalidate our children, and each other when we are not able to accept each other for who we are, just the way we are. "

"Bullied to Silence" is more than a feature documentary. It's a movement to, as Gandhi said,"... be the change you wish to see in the world." Together, we can provide the bullied a powerful voice. Together, we can embrace our children for who they are and empower them to believe in themselves. And together, we can be the village that supports the development of happy and healthy youth who themselves can be the change.

Broude and Pivnickʼs company, Purple People Inc., promotes equality among humans and respect for all living creatures with the belief that we all need to "Honor Our Differences and Cherish Our Similarities." Dog Eats Hat Productions, the company's film division, creates films that speak to our human connection.
