Sunday, April 28th, 3 - 5:30pm.
with Bob Etherington, GCFP.
At the core foundation of the Feldenkrais Method cm. is the body of work called - Awareness Through Movement. As practitioners we have grown up with these lessons as a part of our education. But, how many of us appreciate the degree to which these lessons inform us of the nature of human learning and movement? Moshe perceived that life without movement is unthinkable and in this workshop we will experience and examine some of these fundamental movement patterns.
As practitioners we are charged with helping people who move in a very complex way discover how to make that movement more refined. And the very "how" of that is embedded in these ATM lessons. In this workshop we will look at how to make the essential functional movement patterns come alive in your understanding and teaching of this work. When you understand how the transmission of force is related to the development of self-image your efficacy and enjoyment of the work will grow immeasurably. Once you have experienced the embodiment of these movements in ATM then it is nothing to transmit them in your FI practice.
Bob Etherington graduated from Anat Baniel's NJ Feldenkrais Professional Teachers Training in1991. He began teaching twice weekly ATM classes before graduation and these are ongoing. His teaching of these classes along with his work in Functional Integration cm. have allowed him to help, and also learn from, hundreds of people. The experience of this work combined with more than 35 years of martial arts study gives Bob a unique perspective of form and function.
