DallasPoetrySlam.com presents the 2013 Grand Slam
Kicking off National Poetry Month, top-area poets will compete for a spot on the nationally ranked Dallas Poetry Slam team during the annual Grand Slam competition with a featured performance by Joaquin Zihuatanejo on Sunday, April 7, 5:00pm at Poor David's Pub located on 1313 South Lamar Street in Dallas. Tickets are only $10 in advance $15 at the door.
One poet will be crowned this year's Grand Slam Champion sharing an opportunity with four other poets to represent the city of Dallas in Boston, MA during the National Poetry Slam in August.
"If you have never been to a poetry slam, put aside all those past notions and get ready to be rocked into reality by some of the most talented, most courageous, most mess with your mind and tear your heart out artists of the spoken word you are ever going to see and hear," says Mary L. Clark of Pegasus News.
Poetry slam is a competition of original poetry judged on content and performance by select members of the audience. "Patrons can expect to be delightfully engaged at an event filled with high energy and passion along with a variety of individual poetic expressions ranging from humor or love to personal intrigue or social challenges," says HBO Def Poet and Dallas Poetry Slam organizer and host, Roderick "Rock Baby" Goudy.
Dallas Poetry Slam hosts a weekly event on Fridays at Heroes Sport Bar starting at 8:00PM.
