| Description |
Lettice is a tour guide at Fustian House, the "least interesting" tourist attraction under the aegis of the Preservation Trust. Using her creative imagination and adventurous spirit she embroiders on the true history so as to make the tourists experience more enjoyable. This embellishment, however, draws the wrathful attention of Lotte Schoen, an officer of the Preservation Trust. Lettice's indomitable spirit, and her refusal to succumb to life's mediocrities lead to her pursuit of a conversion of Lotte's grim outlook on life.
The Merc production will introduce Jane Pappidas in the title role in her first appearance on the Merc summer stage. Jane has enjoyed a long career in theatre, and has directed and appeared in numerous staged readings at the Merc. Lotte Schoen will be played by Carolanne Steinebach, and the production will be directed by Gregg W. Brevoort, who directed The Drawer Boy for the Merc in 2006.
