8:30PM FRIDAY JUNE 28 2013 Join North Cascades Mountain Hostel as we host the Premier Showing of CHASING ICE on the big screen under the stars in Winthrop Town Park. This screening is being shown in conjunction with MountainFilm On Tour- Winthrop the following night. Before the film, we will have our friend and Chasing Ice Team Member, Adam LeWinter present on the making of the film, the challenges of capturing the images, and our future in the face of global climate change.
12PM to 11PM SATURDAY JUNE 29 2013 Mountainfilm is dedicated to educating and inspiring audiences about issues that matter, cultures worth exploring, environments worth preserving and conversations worth sustaining. Started in 1979, Mountainfilm in Telluride is one of America's longest-running film festivals. While content varies film to film, a constant theme of inspiration runs true throughout.
We will be hosting Mountainfilm on Tour-Winthrop on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Barn and town park. This will be a half-day event featuring a film lineup from the festival and local student films, Films will be shown throughout the afternoon and evening, intermissions will include presentations on the films, artists, related topics, etc., as well as ongoing tents and booths from local businesses and artisans. This event will be an amazing way to celebrate summer solstice by bringing our community and visitors together to learn, educate, and open the discussion on issues and environments that effect us directly.
We will be donating 10% of ticket sale profits to the Valley Teen Center. The VTC will also take home the profits made by their food and craft sales.
If your business would be interested in participating in this outdoor event, please contact the Event Coordinator Audrey Jo Mills at audreyjo@ncascadesmtnhostel.com.
