Chicago Ladies in Comedy (CLiC), has partnered with SKALD Storytelling Competition winner Deanna Moffitt to present Lady Tales: A Workshop and Performance of Stories by Women.
"Great stories happen to those who can tell them." -Ira Glass
Storytelling is hot, hot, hot in Chicago right now. And if you've ever thought "I want to do that sometime," or "I could never do that, I don't have any stories," this class is for you. Taught by Deanna Moffitt co-founder and co-host of one of the best story telling events in the city, "This Much is True", this four week session on personal narrative writing will help you discover one of your stories and your voice to tell it. We'll explore story inspiration, work with writing prompts, create "characters" and dialogue and the art of telling a story well. The class will culminate in a story telling show produced by CLiC.
WHAT: LADY TALES: A Month long workshop culminating with a final performance $75 for the 3 week class and final performance. Class space is limited to 8 female participants Tickets are non-refundable and must be purchased in advance.
WHEN: Fridays beginning April 5th: 6pm to 9pm Final Performance Friday April 26, 2012 WHERE: Mullens at 3527 N. Clark, Wrigleyville
"This was honestly the best experience I have ever had in a story telling class. I have been to a few others and they were okay but they didn't have the structure this one did or the encouraging/safe environment that this class provided. I learned so much and have gained skills I can take into anything I do. I hope this workshop continues because everyone should take this workshop, girls and guys!" - Jennifer
"The class was the perfect forum for developing a story and getting valuable heartfelt feedback. I enjoyed learning from Deanna and meeting so many great women. Events like this really expand the storytelling community!" - Rachel
"I had a great time in the story telling class! Deanna is a great teacher, and I thought she was good at facilitating class and providing actionable feedback." - Emily
