Intermezzo IV Gala Concert with Michael Partington in concert with the Saratoga Orchestra
Saratoga Orchestra of Whidbey Island presents award-winning classical guitarist, Michael Partington in concert on Sunday, May 5, 2013, 2:30pm at South Whidbey High School in Langley. Celebrating its Sixth Season under the Artistic Direction of Legh W. Burns, the orchestra will welcome Guest Conductor Roger Nelson in a program featuring music of Rodrigo, Debussy, Respighi, and Leo Brouwer.
Michael Partington, one of the most engaging of the new generation of concert players has been praised by Classical Guitar Magazine for his "lyricism, intensity and clear technical command. He has trained with many of the world's greatest guitarists, including Oscar Ghiglia, Eliot Fisk, Eduardo Fernandez, Manuel Barrueco and David Russell. Mr. Partington has appeared throughout the USA, UK, Canada, Russia and Scandanavia in solo recital, with orchestra and in chamber ensembles. His North American appearances include the first solo guitar recital in Seattle's Benaroya Hall. Concerts in England and Wales have included the Royal College of Music, St. Martin-in-the-Fields and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. He has performed live on BBC Radio 3's In Tune, BBC Radio Bristol, BBC Wales and Great Western Radio in the UK, as well as St. Paul Sunday on National Public Radio.
General Admission tickets are $20 Adult and $18 Senior/Military. A limited number of seats in a Premium Section are available for $50.
Students 18 and under are admitted FREE (under 14 must be accompanied by a paying adult).
