Following up on their Cappies winning production of A View From The Bridge, the McLean Theater Company proudly presents another classic, Thornton Wilder's, Our Town. This edition of the play presents Our Town as Wilder wished it to be performed, retaining his sharp observations on human foibles, as well as his powerful insights into the human condition, juxtaposed with his great compassion and gentle humor.
The play won a Pulitzer in 1938, and continues to be relevant in today's world and has been described as "the greatest American play ever written". The play follows the story of the small town of Grover's Corners through three acts: "Daily Life," "Love and Marriage," and "Death and Eternity." Narrated by a stage manager and performed with minimal props and sets, audiences follow the Webb and Gibbs families as their children fall in love, marry, and eventuallyin one of the most famous scenes in American theatredie.
The production runs April 25, 26 and 27 at 7 PM in the McLean High School Burke Theater.
