Sunday April 7, 2013 5-8pm Good Shepherd UCC 17750 S. La Cañada Drive, Sahuarita, AZ
On April 7th, BorderLinks' annual Women on the Border event will honor a woman who exemplifies the spirit of persistent and powerful women in the borderlands. In addition, the program will focus on the theme: BorderLinks: Then and Now-25 Years of Educational Excellence.
We are especially pleased to announce that we will be honoring Guadalupe (Lupe) Castillo and Engracia Guzman this year with the 2013 Women on the Border Awards. Active in the creation and leadership of community initiatives such as the Manzo Area Council, the Sanctuary Movement, and Derechos Humanos, Lupe has been a wise and inspiring teacher in the borderlands, a protector of human dignity and rights, and a fearless advocate for justice.
Enjoy dinner and performances and hear from special guest speaker Rick Ufford-Chase, BorderLinks' first Director. Learn how BorderLinks continues to bring people to the U.S.-Mexico border and beyond, to listen, to learn, and to strategize for positive social change. Don't miss it!
