We're pleased to announce the debut of two solo shows to be performed back-to-back by Karen Krantz and Karolyn Gehrig.
Behind The Wheel explores the power dynamics at play inside a few vehicles with less-than-stellar horsepower. Also, there is a car chase. Written and performed by Karolyn Gehrig, a disabled multimedia artist, writer and storyteller. Directed by Heather Woodbury, who has been awarded an NEA for Playwriting and was the first recipient of the Spalding Gray Award for "fearless theatrical innovators."
Strange Love is a multi-character solo show that explores the theme of people finding love in the most absurd places. These off-beat, surreal, funny stories paint a picture of how we find meaning in life through the things we love - an aspiring peasant woman at a renaissance fair, recruiter for neighborhood bear patrol, editor and divorcee of Birds and Blooms magazine, a theatre historian and tour guide who wishes she was a character in a play, and woman in love with a goldfish. Love is a place to belong, and these characters make home in the strangest places. Karen Krantz is a stand-up and actress. Tara Copeland is an actress, director, teacher extraordinaire from UCB.
