The Randy Weston Trio: African Rhtyhms
Paris Bar New York, NY
Randy Weston bridges the worlds of Bed-Stuy and Mombassa by creating what Langston Hughes described as "an ebb and flow of sound seemingly as natural as the waves of the sea."
Born in Brooklyn, Weston spent 1961 through 1973 living in Nigeria and Morrocco, and these rhythms are woven into his playing.
Weston's style fits perfectly with the percussive, explosive playing of Alex Blake, a living master of the upright bass.
Joined by percussionist George Clarke, this trio can make the ground shudder and shake.
