This is your start into confident music-making, whatever your instrument, including voice.
I'm "Slantnote" Dave Zethmayr, a cappella choral director, folk & bluegrass singer-'cello-bassist, and Byzantine-Orthodox cantor. I lead these workshops.
We start from zero, no age requirements.
There is a BRAVERY requirement, however: I ask you to use your voice. Not in the fine-arts sense, but simply because it's the most direct route into your ear's mind. Your ear knows more about music than you do. We have ways of making it share its knowledge with the rest of yourself. Ear first, fingers later, reading last (if ever).
In three weekly sessions, attendees will build an ear-first foundation for music theory with no need to read music. We center on the two landmarks of sound that have for centuries been the navigational stars of music the world over and through the millennia.
Parents and grandparents bring children. Steep discounts for groups of two or more. No smoking. Be prepared to shuck street shoes (this is a dance studio floor).
OPTIONAL printable KeyShmee Level-1 Workshop materials are free at http://earfirst.com -- you will find a 3-hole ring-binder useful. And a punch. Bring 'em if you're a visual learner. See you there.
The March KeyShmee Series is at the Mauston DanceArt Centers, "half-up" studio (no elevator), across from Hatch Public Library.
