The Art of Ritual Theater wit Luisah Teish
This is a gathering of Earth centered kindred spirits who want to learn the elements of ritual as spiritual enactment. Ritual arts such as visualization, movement, chants, and mixed-media art will be use to establish heart felt connections with all aspects of nature, spirit and the human community. Exercises for developing joyful enactments of these relationships will be explored.
Participants should wear festive clothing, bring their favorite art materials, writing utensils, small instruments, and their favorite flower.
This gathering is suitable for women and men of all ages and spiritual practices. No prior theater or ritual experience is required.
This is a drug, alcohol, and hate free zone.
This workshop will provide the attendees with an environment and opportunity to explore the Art of Ritual Theater within a community. We will begin with an examination of the sacred Orature and village theater styles of the African diaspora. We will then be encouraged to render our personal experiences into music, movement, choral invocation, and storytelling. We will also be devising and creating a ritual theater performance in honor of the Spring Equinox to be celebrated with the community!
This is a phenomenal experience to understand the roots of theater and how ritual and theater can affect a community, the world, and touch each of our souls!
This will be a great opportunity for theater artists looking to deepen their connection to their art; for ritualists seeking another vehicle of ritual transformation and community involvement; and for anyone interested in healing and self growth.
The workshop will be held:
Saturday March 23rd from 10-5pm
Sunday March 24th from 10-3pm (with a ritual performance at 4pm)
Tickets are $150 before March 8th
$175 after March 8th
$190 at the door
