Director Leo Khasin tells a warm tale about an unlikely friendship between two lonely, displaced characters. Alexander is an 84-year-old Jewish war veteran desperate to continue living independently in his Berlin apartment. Among his neighbors is a Palestinian family newly arrived from a refugee camp in Lebanon that includes teenage son Ali. As a result of peer pressure, Ali joins a group that wreaks havoc on Alexander's life.
To repair the damage he helped cause and prevent the deportation of his family, Ali must work side-by-side with Alexander. Their relationship takes many twists and turns, and the two characters gradually begin to respect their differences and see past their initial hatred of one another.
