Description
Mounting evidence shows that investment in early learning pays huge dividends, not only for children and families, but society broadly. At this special luncheon, hear from one of America's foremost experts on the economic impact of early learning, Rob Grunewald, Associate Economist with Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.

Mr. Grunewald is the author of several studies demonstrating the improved life and work outcomes for young children with nurturing home and learning settings. His research details how children who make a strong start in life later flourish in school, succeed in the workplace, and make lower demands on costly social services.

In conversation with businessman John Stanton, Managing Director of Trilogy Partnership (United Way of King County Campaign Chair and Chair of Business Partnership for Early Learning), Mr. Grunewald will discuss the elements that, together, add up to a promising early childhood, especially for kids beginning life with social and economic obstacles. A special topic will be Mr. Grunewalds recent exploration of parent-home visiting programs, which help struggling families give their children the kind of home environment shown to promote later success in pre-school and beyond.

Sponsored by United Way of King County.  Co-presented by Thrive by Five Washington, Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, Business Partnership for Early Learning and CityClub.
