TAIKOTASTIC Drumming for a Cause
A Benefit Concert for Taiko Drum Maker Mark Miyoshi
Join Eugene Taiko and Ahiru Daiko for an afternoon of taiko drumming alive with powerful beats and spellbinding rhythms all to raise money for Mark Miyoshi, a pioneering North American taiko drum maker.
Eugene Taiko is a community-based Japanese drumming ensemble that has been performing for audiences throughout Oregon since 1989. Performing modern interpretations of traditional pieces as well as their own compositions, the 15 members of Eugene Taiko bring their energetic enthusiasm to each of the group's performances.
Ahiru Daiko was formed in October of 2010 and is the first collegiate taiko group at a public university in Oregon. The songs in their performances are a mixture of traditional songs and original compositions. Ahiru Daiko means "duck Taiko." The name is inspired by the UO mascot.
