David Williams ~ Cairns: Messengers in Stone. Book Reading and Signing
Geologist and acclaimed nature writer David B. Williams will share with us his newest book Cairns: Messengers in Stone. We'll explore the stories of cairns, from the high Arctic to Walden Pond to the Zuni Pueblo.
Quirky and thought provoking, Williams book shows that cairns are more than a random pile of rocks, they are rich in stories and meaning, and pretty darned nifty, too. Williams weaves in geology and ecology; raises the question of whether to cairn or not to cairn; discusses how to transfer your fatigue to a cairn; and explores the cairns of tragedies.
